    Dr. Keverline is an experienced eye physician and surgeon who comes from a family of Pennsylvania ophthalmologists. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Michael Keverline earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed a transitional internship at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh and then completed his residency training in Ophthalmology at the Eye and Ear Institute of Pittsburgh. Dr. Keverline practiced with the Advanced Vision Institute in Hampton and Williamsburg, Virginia prior to joining Southside Eye Care in 2004. Dr. Keverline is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. His professional memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Virginia Society of Ophthalmology and the Medical Society of Virginia. Dr. Keverline specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology. His areas of expertise include laser vision correction, cataract surgery, eyelid surgery, medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma, and diabetic eye care. Married to Dr. Sharon Keverline, the couple has three children and live in the Western Branch area of Chesapeake. Dr. Keverline enjoys boating and jet skiing.     Optometrist Theodore Hallberg, O.D.

    Dr. Hallberg offers family eye care and contact lens services at Southside Eye Care. He graduated from the State University of Buffalo in 1992 and from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1996. He relocated to Hampton Roads 10 years ago. Dr. Hallberg enjoys providing family eye care and raising his family in “this wonderful community.” “Southside Eye Care is a unique practice because we are able to provide a full spectrum of eye care,” he says. Dr. Hallberg’s affiliations include the American Optometric Association, the Virginia Optometric Association and the Tidewater Optometric Society. His interests include cycling, golf and hockey.

    Our founding physician, Dr. Robert Baker, retired in December 2006.     Ophthalmologist Elizabeth Chiang, M.D., PhD

    Southside Eye Care is happy to announce Dr. Elizabeth Chiang joining our team of eye care professionals on September 1, 2016. Dr. Chiang is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who has recently completed her fellowship in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery. We anticipate her specialized skill set will be well received by the community and patients. Elizabeth Chiang attended the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, CA and graduated with honors with a B.S. in Engineering and Applied Sciences. She then went on to the Medical Scientist Training Program at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio earning her medical degree and a PhD in Neuroscience. She completed her internship year in preliminary medicine at Akron General Medical Center before starting her Ophthalmology residency at Northwestern University, where she served as chief resident. Elizabeth has recently completed her fellowship training in Oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Milwaukee.
